Fierce Youth Reclaiming & Empowering (FYRE) seeks to support and build the leadership and power of lesbian, gay, bi, trans, same gender loving, and questioning youth of color and our allies, in Atlanta, and statewide, through relationship building, political education, resource development, art and media work, and community based research.
Program Goals
- Provide a safe space for LGBTQ youth of color in Atlanta, as well as Georgia at large, to build relationships with each other and work together.
- Provide the opportunity for other groups and organizations serving LGBTQ youth and LGBTQ youth of color to collaborate to ensure that LGBTQ youth and LGBTQ youth of color have more support and resources they need available for success.
- Hold spaces for queer and trans youth of color to engage in political and historical education and gain concrete skills.
- Encourage and inspire queer and trans youth of color to critique mass media by reclaiming their own histories and lived experiences relating to gender and sexual justice.
