On the last day of the legislative session, with your support, we lobbied, arm twisted and demanded that legislators oppose the race and sex selection bill that targeted women of color and criminalized their physicians. AND WE WON! Given only a half of Georgia students reported being protected by comprehensive anti-harassment policies in their schools, state-level safe school legislation that provides specific enumerated categories, such as sexual orientation and race, must be adopted. Students who are bullied for real or perceived sexual orientation are far more likely to commit suicide than those who are not . . . homophobic bullying is not just a “gay” issue but an issue that harms students of all ages and sexual identities. Accurate, honest sex education is a basic human right. Information is empowering. It is the foundation of good judgment. So why are so few of us granted our right to sexual health information? Don’t let CVS create barriers for young people who want to act responsibly and protect themselves. Join Advocates for Youth and Change to Win in demanding that CVS adopt a corporate policy against locking up condoms! |
